Exploring topics for papers

I have never been good with thinking of ideas for papers, I am also incredibly indecisive which why this class is a little challenging for me. I thought chapter 5 was a really interesting chapter because it helped me understand what I was looking for. I really enjoyed the four steps that it provided with it, choosing a topic - brainstorm topic ideas, explore topic ideas through preliminary research, pick single viable topic, and finally make a good research question. These really helped me because I learn best from step to step help especially when writing papers. I never got much freedom in high school to write my own papers with my own topics so it could be a reason for my struggle in this class. Its also really hard to pick a topic question that is condense but also enough wiggle room to find good evidence. In class we learned about a good research idea, and our teacher went through it. But it is also really nice to get an outside source and for me especially with the steps. This also reminded me of the idea of shitty first drafts, our first idea for a research question will not perfect, but it will take work to create a really good research question.
