Lou’s class log
In the second half of class, Lauren shared a video of slogans and talked about the importance of it. The video had slogans and we had to guess them before it showed what each was, some of the class tried to guess what they were. Most of the time slogans are really effective at displaying the product and enticing the consumer. Sometimes they are confusing like the Old Spice but it can be beneficial because it makes the consumer remember it easier. We also tend to integrate the ad slogans in our regular life as well, for example the Aspca commercial song by Sarah McLachlan or Dilly Dilly with Bud Light. After Laurens presentation, Jake did a presentation on meditation; the genre of it. It was called Fill your mind. It was only three minutes but ended up feeling a lot longer, it also was taken all in one take. Kristy then talked about her blog and sources and why they are important, explaining how it related to her own project. Matt Agreed with her presentation how a wing person is supposed to make you look better. Deja had a blog as well, talked about the medical podcast, in-depth look at commentary and how it was about medical students in the pre-clinical field. She picked Jared’s blog and he spoke about a Bible study he is in and finding how Christians should interact which the Bible reveals that. Community can dictate how we use evidence and peer review for project is usable. We went over how we need seven scholarly sources for the assignment as well. We also need three sources in the paper. Finally, we went over Owl Purdue and relearned about in text citations for the assignment.
